Announcing our 2017-2018 Season!
2017-2018 SEASON
We're very excited to announce our inaugural season of three very special shows.
THE BEATLES (September/October): Our kick-off event will present an epic staging of over 35 songs by pop music’s most recognizable group. Complete with a 5-piece band, and augmented by a string quartet and horn section, The Rock Orchestra will present this material note for note and the show will unfold in chronological order, from ‘Love Me Do’ to ‘Let It Be’. We’ll weave our way through the early guitar-driven hits, through the highly produced psychedelic era and conclude with their polished elder-statesman period. There are few songs by the Beatles considered “deep cuts” these days, but in addition to many of their number 1 hits, selection will include more challenging pieces like ‘I Am The Walrus’ and ‘Glass Onion’. Despite featuring nearly 40 songs, this show only runs around 2.5 hours with intermission.
Band: 14-piece band including string and horn sections
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN (January): Springsteen streamlined his songwriting into a pop music
tour-de-force in the 80s, but before that he pushed the envelope of song development, telling stories of the Jersey Shore and New York City in songs that were epic in both scope and sound. We start at the very beginning by performing his first three albums in their entirety. Beginning with the humble, acoustic tongue twisters of his debut, Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ, into his ode to Jersey life, The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle, and concluding with the earth-shattering Born To Run album. We will present a period in Bruce’s career where he melded songwriting with musicianship in songs that take on a new life on stage. Many of which are rarely performed live. Songs include ‘Blinded By The Light’, ‘Growin’ Up’, ‘Spirit In The Night’, ‘Rosalita’. ‘Born To Run’, ‘Thunder Road’ and ‘Jungleland’. This show will run about 2.5 hours with intermission.
Band: 10-piece band including horn section
PETER GABRIEL (May): Combining art rock and hit songwriting, Peter Gabriel is hailed as an artist in a class all his own. His records create unique sonic landscapes that have drawn in the listener for decades, while augmenting his catalog with some of the biggest hits in pop history. This show will spotlight material from all of his studio albums, from his first four eponymous records, to the chart topping So, through his later, more mature material. We’re presenting a show designed to please fans and casual listeners alike. Some songs include ‘Solsbury Hill’, ‘Games Without Frontiers’, ‘Shock The Monkey’, ‘Sledgehammer’ and ‘In Your Eyes’. With intermission, this show should run about two hours.
